Metafy's mission is "Access Information, Distribute Knowledge." Developed concepts for initial software products, organized company, and wrote Objective-C code base for MacOS X platform. Currently serving customers on four continents with two products: Anthracite Web Mining Desktop, a visual information processing toolkit, and Stickler! scrolling RSS feed reader.

(Oct. 2002 - Current) Founder, General Manager: Joseph & Orange LLC
Formed company to manage multiple simultaneous projects of diverse scope and duration for a range of different clients. The Company's primary focus has been media and marketing, as a brand manager and content provider, and in press and public relations. Successfully built and operated internet radio content brand (Music For Cubicles®) in partnership with RealNetworks and achieved repeated press successes on shoestring budget. Developed Perl-based audience analysis & reporting software for RealNetworks. Provided press and marketing support to small softgoods manufacturer resulting in a measurable increase in sales. Currently supporting media planning and development for latest venture.

Consulting firm co-founded with Dave Rogers (former co-publisher of the Colorado franchise of The Onion newspaper) to provide management consulting services to startup up companies.

Hired as CEO/President by group of founders to pursue user-generated live video platform company. Secured commitments for angel capital and made frequent pitches to venture capitalists and prospective partners. Provided product management direction for company's core product, market positioning and R&D.

(July 2001 - July 2002) Engineering Manager, Product Development Consultant: AudioMill/RealNetworks, Inc.
Initially provided conceptual development consulting services to this internet radio technology start-up in Santa Cruz, CA, then became on-site manager tasked with day-to-day engineering oversight and a portion of business operations. Led a small team of 4 to 6 in-house and contract software developers building a web-based technology platform for searching radio station content, coordinated outside technical and creative services, oversaw infrastructure deployment and provided assistance to Company's board during closing. Consultant through post-acquisition technology transfer phase.

(Oct. 1996 - Dec. 2000) Founder, CEO, GM: Eclectic Radio Company, Inc. ("GoGaGa.com")
Developed vision, strategy, plan and operations that took the company from inception to multi-million-dollar financing. Responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operations and decision-making prior to hiring President as part of venture financing in late 1999. Built several distinct businesses in the webcasting space including a national consumer brand and proprietary technology, with opportunities for additional business in e-commerce and client services. Managed staff of 12 direct and 50+ indirect creative, technical, sales and marketing employees, contractors and producers. Responsible for budget and financial operations of $500,000 in start-up expenses and goodwill. Generated revenues of more than $50,000 through direct advertising sales effort, e-commerce initiatives, and provision of business services. Closed $1,000,000 Series A venture financing in November 1999 through a syndicate of 6 investors including three venture capital firms and three individual investors. Led numerous marketing and PR initiatives that resulted in press and market acceptance of consumer products unmatched in the category. Served as public spokesperson with outstanding communications skills regardless of audience size or venue. Responsible for all legal and intellectual property matters of the company, including music licensing and patent applications (see US6434621 "Apparatus and Method of Using Same for Internet and Intranet Broadcast Channel Creation and Management").

Produced written, source code, and interactive multimedia products and plans. Managed multiple simultaneous projects and customer relationships while also developing new business.

Creative director at Apple Electronic Media Lab, an advanced research group of Apple Online Services/eWorld. Responsible for the development of advanced concepts and prototypes of future online and internet products and services. Key creative lead for a wide range of online and internet software R&D projects. Conducted extensive research into media business models and consumer behavior. Developed strategic and tactical analysis of the online/internet industry to guide division management. Presented original technical and conceptual material for high-level internal and external audiences.

Personal Background
I am the self-educated son of two humanities professors. I was raised in Birmingham, Alabama and Morgantown, West Virginia, lived in Germany for a year as a Congressional exchange student, and have been in Boulder, Colorado most of the last twenty years. My experience with computers began at the age of 9, sneaking into the computer labs at the local college to play Robot and Adventure on the Digital VAX system, then becoming the proud owner of one of the earliest Apple II computers sold in West Virginia.
